Help neede, Uninstall not possible, file corrupted

Postby Kevingu » Wed Aug 11, 2010 7:52 am

Hello, I urgent need help. My system is Windows 7 32bit with Microsoft Security Essentials. I installed Windows7FirewallControl in the lite (free) version, used it some days and now I want to uninstall the Software. But I got an Error "C:\Program Files\Windows7FirewallControl \unins000.dat" file is corrupted. Cannot uninstall.
I'm despaired what shall I do?
Many thanks for answers.

Most probably the required unins000.dat has been removed accidentally manually or by a third party “optimizer”.
The best way to recover is installing the product on the top again and then uninstall

this works, I installed it once again and then I could uninstll the program. I guess my Glary Utilities removed the unins000.dat file. Many thanks

Similar problem, but VFC has so thoroughly gummed up PC that getting online now impossible. Want to strip from computer completely, no re-install. Ideas?

The only way to restore accidentally/implicitly removed files is installation on-the-top again.
The firewall can be switched off entirely by TrayIcon/RightClick/Mode:EnableAll

If you have a reason for not installing on-the-top to recover the files, the manual uninstallation is available as well on private basis. Please contact support [at] sphinx-soft.com referring this thread and please explain the reason above, we would be happy to assist.
