W FC10 and Weather in Windows 10

W FC10 and Weather in Windows 10

Postby Hades » Wed Nov 11, 2015 12:52 pm

I am puzzled about something in WFC10 and the application "Weather" in Windows 10 (or also "Maps" or else "News") : this program (C:\program files\windowsapps\microsoft.bingweather_4.6.169.0_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe\microsoft.msn.weather.exe) appears two times in WFC10 (exactly the same), and one time with the red block off sign - meaning unavailable ? But it is perfectly available . Same with the others programs. More, there is sometimes a new popup about one of these programs already in WFC10, with just the same path and definition. It does'nt help to delete these red applications in WFC10. Am I completely wrong or what happens with these Microsoft (only these) programs ? Thank you very much.

>appears two times in WFC10 (exactly the same),

The second entry is shown with (1) suffix?
Anyway please verify the paths. The full paths should be different. Fullpath is key for W10FC. This is the main reason of listing the same program twice.
Separate 32 and 64 bit EXEs?

>and one time with the red block off sign - meaning unavailable ?

The sign means the exe file is not found at the listed by W10FC path.
Moved? Renamed? Reinstalled?

>But it is perfectly available .

Do you mean the application is operable? What it the full path? Does it match W10FC listing?

>Same with the others programs.

You could send us the Settings/Export file for checking

>More, there is sometimes a new popup about one of these programs already in WFC10, with just the same path and definition.

W10FC shows the detection prompt for unlisted (new full path) applications and applications set with ZoneResult=Enable+Prompt or Disable+Prompt (the Plus version feature).
Could you please verify the paths and the zone applied.

>It does'nt help to delete these red applications in WFC10.

Deleting such apps just frees the programs list from redundant entries.

>Am I completely wrong or what happens with these Microsoft (only these) programs ?

WindowsApps (metro) applications may have some specifics.
We would need access.log file (from the firewall installation folder) and the Settings/Export file.
You can send the files to support [at] sphinx-soft [dot] com referring the thread.
Looking forward to hear from you.
