Will FW detect version upgrades automatically?

Will FW detect version upgrades automatically?

Postby pstein » Sat Oct 15, 2016 7:16 am

Assume I have a software with a certain version. Think of Firefox v49.0.1

When I update now in-place (!) the firefox by a new version to v50.0: will the FW automatically detect this?
...and apply the old rule(s) to the new version?

Or do I get a prompt similar to "new version detected"?

The firewall identifies programs-to-protect by full path names only.
So if a new version is located on the same path there will be no new detection prompt generated by the firewall. The firewall will just use the previously applied permissions.
